Sometimes You Need a Hug…
Sometimes ministry happens on the platform in front of a large audience, as you preach, teach, or worship God. Sometimes it happens it happens as you deliver groceries to a hungry family or provide shelter for the homeless. And sometimes ministry is a simple hug…
I was reviewing photos of my recent trip to Brazil and remembered the days spent at the Feeding Programs there. The distribution of food happened after the service, where I was so blessed to be able to share. As the people lined up to receive their packet of much-needed food, I stood by waiting with my arms open. I was so touched by the number of “strangers” who stopped to hold my hand or receive a hug. I couldn’t understand their words, because it was always in Portuguese. They couldn’t understand mine unless a translator was near. But love doesn’t need translation, does it? Real love - God’s love - is more than words. It is a powerful force that can be seen, felt, and experienced. One hug can lift a burden, brighten a smile, or heal a hidden wound in the soul.
Never underestimate the power of a hug…
