The Miracle of Internet

Many of you are too young to remember when there were no cell phones. The only place you could see a computer in those days was at the hospital or in an office. Laptops didn’t exist. It was in these wireless years that I began to travel and do missionary work. The only way to get training to other countries was to go in person, costing thousands of dollars for travel, lodging, and hosting conferences. I loved it - but because of the cost and time required for the travel, I was limited in how much I could do. It made being away from home so very hard, too. I rarely heard my the voice of my husband or children in the weeks I traveled and my emails were far and between.

Then came the internet and cell phone era. THANK GOD! I know the internet can be a dark place for some, but it is also a miraculous tool for missionary work. When I think of all the discipleship training I’ve been able to do this year via internet, it makes me want to cry. It is almost unbelievable to me. I’ve taught our Multi-Generational Discipleship Course to students in 5 African nations and the USA. I’ve been able to do our Redemption LIFE training for former slave families in Pakistan and teams ministering to orphans and child victims of war in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Materials have been translated into several languages this year and are being sent digitally to places I can’t go. The number of people that can be reached with the gospel while I’m sitting at my tiny desk at home or the kitchen table is…a miracle. It. Just. Is.

That makes me think of my husband, who has provided for us with his paycheck all these years so that I could give my time to the message and mission God called us to. Tonight my heart is flooded with gratitude for the opportunities God gives to share His Good News with the world. I am beyond blessed…
